The 8static crew has been busy reinforcing the walls at Studio 34 and putting up fliers warning children and the elderly to steer clear of West Philadelphia on June 12th. Nullsleep is coming to town, and we can only hope our new soundsystem won’t be sucked into the spacetime rift created during his set. Opening for Nullsleep will be Philadelphia’s brave Magoni & Chaffel, followed by NYC’s Starscream. They’ll have time to flee before Nullsleep takes the stage, but enso & NO CARRIER were naive enough to think they could withstand doing visuals the entire night.

If you are in Reading, PA on Sunday April 18th, 2010 definitely check out TooManyGames, Pennsylvania’s longest continually running gaming event. For $5 ($8 at the door) you get to play in the game room (with consoles new and old), take part in tournaments and get to come home with all the retro gear you crave. Of course you’ll also get your fix of chip music: Animalstyle, Cheap Dinosaurs, Ro-Bear, Chipocrite and X Hunters will be playing so check them out if you get a chance.

8Static is coming of age! For our Sweet 16 (ok, 16th show; not year), we’re taking a look at the super-high-tech world of 16bit consoles and their DOS brethren.
Music by Mark DeNardo, OxygenStar and Philadelphia’s own Animal Style with visuals by VBLANK. And dust off those OPL chips and DOS trackers for our monthly open mic!
Before the show, we’ll be seeing some work from the demoscene with Stephen Whittam, a.k.a. “Inspired Chaos.” The demoscene is a community built upon groups of programmers, musicians, and artists who create stylish audio/visual ‘demos’ to flaunt their skills and make their mark at one of many ‘demoparties’ that occur across the globe each year. IC will show how far things have come since the days when information moved at the speed of a copied floppy disk.

On March 13th we are having a totally free 8static! That’s right, FREE! Bring all your friends who are new to chip and/or too cheap to usually show up! Consider it our way of saying THANK YOU for your continued support of 8static and our extremely successful Kickstarter campaign! We asked for money for new equipment and you guys donated over $3,000! We’re gonna have our new sound system and projector ready to go for this special event!
This show will feature minusbaby from NYC, and Philly’s own Ro-Bear, Chipocrite, and enso!

Sorry to say, but 8static is canceled for February 6th!
All three musical acts have members from NYC, which presents a big transportation issue. More importantly, you all know that 8static is totally DIY – and bringing a sound system and drum kit from unplowed South and Northeast Philly is almost impossible right now! All scheduled artists from this month will be worked into lineups for the next few months, so you’ll see them soon!
Now, for some good news – we were going to announce this tonight at the show, so here goes: On March 13th we are having a totally free 8static! That’s right, FREE!
