Hopefully you survived last month’s 8static, because we have another awesome one coming up in November. We’re really psyched to announce the return of NYC’s Bubblyfish to 8static for her first Philly show in over a year! She’ll be joined by fellow musicians Ro-Bear from Philly and 8bitbetty from NYC in his 8static debut. We’re also super psyched to have visualicious back from NYC to do visuals!

Don’t forget – open mic is every month. Show up at 7pm to sign up and play a song before the main show begins. You’ll want to be there early anyway, because Batsly Adams is doing an Arduino workshop. After a quick intro to the platform he’ll be showing off some of his new software to interface a Nintendo / NES with the Arduino. Don’t miss it!

The links on the left have all you need to get ready for November’s 8static: listen to tunes from the musicians and click on the RSVP link to get in for just $5! See you in a few weeks… :)

If you were at 8static last month you probably saw the Hipster City Cycle photobooth – now it’s time to vote! Go here to check out the photos from last month and vote for your favorites: http://tinyurl.com/8static Remember, the winning pics get pixelated and appear in the game as pedestrian characters!

If you want to check out all of the photos from the contest, you can go straight to the Hipster City Cycle page here: http://www.hipstercitycycle.com/pixelate.php

If you have no idea what Hipster City Cycle is, this should explain:

Hit the Bricks with Hipster City Cycle – A Philly iPhone Game

Summer’s over, the economy is running like a Yugoslavian car, and Philly was named the least fashionable city in the country. But don’t hang yourself with your Jnco Jeans! Just around the corner is the release of the Philly based iPhone game Hipster City Cycle.

Coming this December, take control of hipster cyclist Binky and guide him on a pixelated adventure through the streets of Philadelphia. Developed, set, and crafted with love for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, Hipster City Cycle is the brainchild of a few plucky Philadelphians with video games in their hearts and bikes between their legs.

What’s more, we want you to get vain and get in the game. In the coming months, the creators of Hipster City Cycle will be making appearances at flea markets, concerts, and First Fridays with their Pixlation Booth. Come out in your hipsterest, slickest, and/or provocativest duds and get your photo taken. Then go to our contest site and have your friends vote for your ugly mug. Our master artist will transform the most popular pictures into pixel art, and those lucky individuals will be immortalized as Hipster City Cycle pedestrians.

Check out our website – www.hipstercitycycle.com – to find out more about the game and see where in Philly to find our Pixelation Booth next.

We’re happy to host Mr. Spastic next weekend at 8static for his first ever Philly gig! He’ll be joined by a healthy dose of NYC chip musicians: glomag, Natty, and 8BK-ok. Philadlephia’s own enso will be on visuals all night.

If you’ve never heard Mr. Spastic, be sure to check out his excellent Claps & Leads EP on 8bitpeoples here: http://www.8bitpeoples.com/discography/8BP096

We’re having another great LSDJ workshop, so get there early. Details on the event as well as links are on the sidebar to the left. See you next Saturday!

In just a couple of weeks, 8static is back with another killer lineup. In his first Philly appearance, Neil Voss will deliver some new hard-hitting Game Boy tunes. Void Vision is back again, with their unique chip synth-pop sound that everyone loves so much. Peter Swimm has been working on lots of fresh stuff since his last 8static show, and Da Pantz is ready to take main stage after numerous 8static open mics. VBLANK is here to light up your life, literally.

Make sure to come out early, because Animal Style is doing an advanced LSDJ workshop. If you’re never used LSDJ, make sure to check out the events page for a link to get yourself a copy now! He’ll be quickly covering the basics, but he’ll be covering some advanced stuff for people that are ready to take it to the next level. Don’t miss it!
